Application for Membership

The Connecticut Coalition on Aging (CCOA) is dedicated to working together to improve the quality of life for all elders, especially those most vulnerable.  This purpose is accomplished through study, education, communication and advocacy.  CCOA has been in existence since 1974.

Coalition activities include:

Conducting an annual State-wide survey to identify major concerns effecting older people.

Establishing priorities for the annual Connecticut Legislative Session based upon the survey results.

Working for legislation beneficial to Connecticut's elders; taking positions on bills, testifying at hearings and report to Members on the status of legislation and needed action.

Educating Members about significant issues, as well as on the legislative process and how and when to contact their legislators.

Members receive:

Two (2) newsletters each year with articles on issues of concern to elders.

Invitations to Coalition-sponsored educational meetings.

Information on the activities of the Coalition's Capitol Corps and how to become involved.

Legislative Bulletins during the Legislative Session with details about content and status of relevant bills along with Coalition actions and recommendations.

Representation by Coalition Members with State-wide aging policy-making organizations.
