2007/2008 Legislative Survey

The results of this survey were used to determine which priorities the Coalition will work for during the 2008 Legislative Session of the Connecticut General Assembly.  Following were the choices offered in the Survey, and we have identified the top four (4) most popular.

     Protect access to prescription drugs under ConnPACE, Medicare and Medicaid.
     Negotiate lower prescription drug costs in State programs.
      3 Promote a comprehensive universal health care coverage program for all ages.
     Provide support programs, information and tax credits for family care-givers.
     Provide tax credits for family caregivers and for long-term care insurance premiums.
      4 Support community-based services, including home care, adult day-care and home-delivered meals.
     Increase availability and oversight of home health aides, personal care attendants and other homecare workers.
     Provide subsidized training and higher salaries to address the shortage of health care workers.
     Provide support for grandparents caring for grandchildren.
      2 Improve existing senior housing to meet needs of seniors; fund additional senior housing.
     Fund support services for senior housing residents with disabilities; increase numbers, income and training of resident service coordinators.
     Provide aid to municipalities to expand senior programs to meet current and future needs.
      1 Promote state-wide tax reform to lessen the burden of high property taxes on seniors.
     Support provision of accessible information about entitlements, programs and services for elderly and disabled.
